Spam-labelling Newborn Websites

Here's a ponder:

What if Gmail's spam filters - which are indeed smart - use a collective behavior analysis to decide whether an email is spam.
Say one filter is whether the email was sent from a server or domain name known to send spam. This seems likely. And how does Google know the server usually sends spam? What if they track how many times the emails are deleted versus how many times emails are kept. Maybe they're tracking time spent on each email, too.

The problem arises when a new server or domain starts sending emails. I'm not talking of emails sent to actual users. I'm talking about emails sent to developers during the development process.
Emails sent to test the contact form, emails sent to test email notifications, emails with debug data... You get the idea.
Most developers simply delete these emails. And rightly so.

What if that makes Google think the site is sending out a large number of unwanted emails - an consequently black-labels the newborn website as a spam server?
And Yahoo! can go suck an acorn with their spam filter.

Meh.

The Gift of a Present

I want to draw your attention to a happening here in Timișoara over the following two weeks. You know how the bloggers from my city bought supplies for a foster home last Christmas. Well, some of those people are at it again. This time, though, we've got the support of our favorite local university. And we need that since this project is a bit more ambitious. We're planning to gather clothes, books and toys and donate them to a few foster homes around Timișoara (Arad, Oradea, Reșița, Caransebeș, Lugoj and Timișoara -- to be exact) and you're welcome to lend a hand. One gathering point will open tomorrow and will be in the West University halls, first floor by the stairs. We'll be taking anything you care to donate, but no money. This effort is fueled by Porsche Timișoara and is supported by Cristina Putan, Richie Ilie, Dan Șefancu, a Secret Santa and Oana Barbu (who made the alliance with West University possible). If you're anything like me, this is a perfect opportunity to clean up that closet of toys you might have, or to share the joy of reading a good book with a kid that might not be as lucky as you were. And everybody needs a warm sweater in times like these. Plus, free hugs and warm fuzzy feelings, eh?

Can't use Gowalla 3.0

P41

There was much hype with the arrival of Gowalla 3.0 and rightly so.

See http://blog.gowalla.com for the details.

I got the update, installed and quickly launched the app. I got as far as the login screen at first. Crap!

Today, I managed to log in, but I can then access one screen and one screen only, the check-in one.

Is there a possibility that Gowalla no workie on iOS4.0.1?
